BOTTOM FIXING METHODS The lower drum assembly is held in place by the use of a horizontal pin - the lower drum bolt, which must pass through the forestay. To ensure forestay integrity it is essential that when the lower drum bolt is disconnected (eg to adjust the rigging screw) the forestay remains intact. Therefore it is necessary to utilise a toggle with a second hole or a multi-hole chainplate adjuster set as shown below. If a new forestay is ordered with one of our systems, one of the above features to the customer's choice will be supplied at no extra cost beyond the price of the forestay. It is possible to pass the swaged eye terminal or the swaged stud of a rigging screw of an existing forestay down through the foil and drum. Whatever system is used, it is always advisable to use a toggle at both ends of the forestay to provide the necessary articulation. |
